Why Sapele Hardwood?

Sapele is a new wood for us! It is such a beautiful hardwood to work with. The natural colour of Sapele wood is so vibrant it is hard not to catch the eye of a passerby! And, with regular oiling, the Resolute Charcuterie board will hold its colour for many years!

Sapele hardwood is from Central or South America. Otherwise known as Honduras Mahogany, South American Mahogany, American Mahogany or Genuine Mahogany. This incredible wood was originally harvested from Honduras; however, during the twentieth century, Brazil provided most of the Mahogany material. Most current hardwood stock comes from Peru or Central America. Mahogany ranks among the finest wood in the world. Its working characteristics are outstanding for many processes, such as cutting, shaping, turning, and sanding.

How To Best Maintain Wooden Serving Platters

Wash your wooden serving platters in warm soapy water. Rinse the board and dry it with a soft cloth.

Fill a large bowl with hot water. Place a bottle of mineral oil into the bowl and let it sit for about 10 minutes or until the bottle feels warm to the touch.

Apply a generous amount of the warmed mineral oil onto a soft cloth. Wipe the mineral oil across the entire surface of your wooden cutting board.

Let the mineral oil soak into your wooden serving boards for approximately six hours. Remove any excess oil with a soft cloth.
